Editorial & Medical-Review Policy
calivue covers health and fitness topics, where accuracy matters. This policy explains how our tools and content are created, sourced, reviewed, and corrected.
Cited, established formulas
Every calculator is built on a published, widely-recognised formula or standard, and each tool names its source so you can verify it. These include:
- Calories / BMR: Mifflin-St Jeor (1990), revised Harris-Benedict (1984), Katch-McArdle.
- Body fat: US Navy circumference method (Hodgdon & Beckett, 1984); waist-to-height ratio.
- Weight projection: energy-balance estimate (~7,700 kcal per kg), recomputed as weight changes.
- Running: Riegel race prediction (1981); Daniels VDOT; Karvonen heart-rate zones.
- Strength: Epley, Brzycki and Lombardi one-rep-max estimators.
Accuracy and limitations
Predictive equations describe population averages, not individual certainties. We present results as estimates and healthy ranges rather than single "ideal" numbers, and we encourage you to track your own trends over time. calivue's tools are for general information and education only and are not medical advice.
Eating-disorder sensitivity
Weight and calorie tools are designed to avoid harm: they show ranges, cap or warn on unsafe inputs (for example, very low calorie targets), and surface support resources where appropriate.
Medical review
Our tools are built on the cited primary sources above. A formal review of our fitness-tool content by a credentialed reviewer (a Registered Dietitian and/or Certified Personal Trainer) is planned; until that review is published, treat our content as informational and grounded in those sources. When the review is complete, we will name the reviewer and the review date here.
